How To Disable or Hide the Notch on the OnePlus 6

We will be teaching you how to disable or hide the notch on the OnePlus 6.

iPhone started the craze in the tech industry with its iPhone X sporting the notch display and since then other phone Manufacturers have been copying the feature. Its first started with the not so popular phone makers like Asus, Leagoo, and Wiko just to name a few. To the top brands like Huawei, Xioami, Nokia and some others.

It seems as if the only phone maker who hasn’t gone the notch route is the Samsung brand. As at the time of writing this article, no Samsung phone has the notch in its display. Not even its latest and flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus. Maybe that could change in its upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 or SX? We’ll have to wait and see.

Hide the notch on OnePlus 6

I personally I’m not a fan of the notch display and I’m also kind of Happy that phone Manufacturers are including an option to turn it off if you do not like it. This is a welcome Feature in the tech world where every phone seems to be having the notch. Other phones with the notch display also have an option to turn if off if you want. Even the iPhone X has this feature but we will be focusing on the OnePlus 6 in this article.

How To Disable or Hide the Notch on OnePlus 6

Like I said earlier, you don’t need a third-party app to hide the notch on OnePlus 6 as phone makers understand that not everyone is a fan of the notch, thus adding this feature in order to enable you to disable or hide the Notch in just a few simple clicks.

WOW!: OnePlus 6 is faster than Galaxy S9 + and iPhone X

  • Open the Settings Menu/App.
  • Click On Display.

  • Click On The Notch Display.

  • Select Hide the Notch.

Now the two sides of the Notch will automatically turn black, thereby forcing things time, battery bar and other stuff down a little bit. Just like that, you have the standard bezel-less display with the standard 18:9 aspect ratio on your OnePlus 6 once again.

If you would like to enable the notch display at a later time to get back the 19:9 aspect ratio then simply Go to Settings Menu/App >> Display >> Notch Display >> Select Enable The Notch.

Conclusion

I’m pretty sure the notch display isn’t gonna be around much longer as most phones are moving towards an actual full-Screen smartphone, Phones like Lenovo Z5 with no notch. However, this brings questions like where will the camera be? Sensors? Speaker? Etc.

Xioami have successfully designed a speaker that is placed under the screen at the top of the phone which they used in the Xioami Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2s. Add that to Vivo Apex‘s Popping camera and maybe, just maybe we can get the perfect full sized bezel-less phone?
