Android 9 Pie has been released for a few moments by Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL and Essential Phone. Smartphones from other manufacturers who have participated in the Beta program, says Google, will receive Pie by the end of autumn. Among these, we remember that there are SonyXperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, Vivo X21 and OnePlus 6. In addition, we can expect rapid updates for Android One devices.
Not all features announced to the Google I / O 2018 will be available immediately; in particular, we note the absence of the whole part related to “digital wellbeing”, which allows you to monitor the use of the smartphone for each app and temporarily limit notifications, and the “Slices” function that shows relevant information from your app at the right time. Both will arrive this fall on the Pixels, and later on the Android One smartphones. We can only assume that the announcement will correspond to the presentation of third-generation Pixels.
The functions related to digital well-being can be tried, in Beta form, on Google Pixel smartphones already now. Among the other functions immediately available, we mention:
- Adaptive Battery, which optimizes battery management based on the app based on the user’s usage habits;
- Adaptive Brightness, which saves and applies brightness profiles according to the user’s habits;
- App Actions, which suggests actions to be performed in an app (example – call mom, listen to playlists …) based on the user’s habits;
- Gesture navigation;
- Intelligent text selection directly from the multitasking page.
